This would be hard for me, because if the apps are not social networking I get really bored of them and end up deleting them. Especially games, I get hooked for maybe a couple weeks then I stop playing altogether and just end up deleting, except flappy bird because the app is no longer available.
I spend most of my time on social networking apps because I am just a social media fiend, I keep opening it up expecting my news feed to change even though I check it every 3 minutes as I am scrolling through all of them. But to me, I don't know of them bring me happiness, I mean they do for a certain time, but happiness is a sense of lasting fulfillment. All apps are just utilities because it is just convenient for me to be on them.
It is something I do just because I have down time. I check everything because I am I want to know whats going on with my friends and the world in a sense. It is just simple entertainment to me but it does not go unnoticed.

Best Device: Panono Camera
The Panono Camera, is an evolution of what already is a very photogenic generation and society. It was created by German students at Technical University of Berlin, Jonas Pfeil, Borjn Bollensdorf and Qain Qin. Fun fact, Pfeil actually came up with the idea while on his trip to Tonga. Originally patent in 2012 then went through some revisions and now come with the Panono camera that takes 360 degrees photos.
Convergence:
- This is something that will be either really big or something that will flop because society isn't ready for it. But I don't think they could have came at a better time. From my understanding they are waiting for backing to help make this a reality. They need close to a million dollars, so they are taking pre-orders from a range of $499-549. This is something that has yet to hit the market and so unique. And you can access the photos and view from your phone so it is already compatible with some technology that you already have.
Consumerism:
- This would make such an impact. With such popular photo apps such as instagram or even having Facebook, this would change the game. People are always wanting to change the game and especially having a full panoramic photo, makes for some amazing memories. Performance, I mean after being revised and everything this is one of its kind so I expect it to make a big impact. With the how many photos are uploaded, and it is compatible with your phone or other technological devices you have. So, just a matter of time before there is something that is created to make these photos easy to upload and edit. it would be easier to upload and save to your cloud memory.
Interactivity:
- Individualism is one of the things that makes this device stand out. The consumer is very much in control of everything because it is dependent on the consumer on when and how to use it. I mean it is all wanting that the consumer. It is like a camera and it is something that also the model sticks out by how it looks, because it looks like a ball.
Technological Determinism:
- I don't believe that this will totally just change the future but it will spark the minds of something greater. Because the up and coming generation is very photogenic so being able to take 360 degrees photo like I said before. Now the only thing I see with that is possibly sometimes privacy, because not everyone is going to be aware that you are taking photos. Lets say you go to a park, or sometimes you do it to be goofy and take pictures of somebody doing something they weren't suppose to. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. But, other than that I see it changing the way we take pictures, I mean it is 72 megapixels and that is some detail.
Market Paradigm Shifts:
- As far as photography goes, like I said it will definitely change the way photos are taken. I feel it is something that people are trying more as a hobby because how convenient everything has become. For example, because of social networking especially twitter everyone pretty much writes a diary online. Same with photography, with apps such as instagram, and other photo edits that you can purchase it makes everyone feel like they are photographers. This is very going to help those people, especially very popular with those who are outdoors people, or even want to take a photo at a sport event.

Kickin it old school for 48 hours...
This was possibly one of the hardest experiences that I have gone through, not so much physically but mentally. Don't get me wrong, as much as I am a very deep thought person and enjoy personal time and disconnecting. I never knew how much I am addicted or connected to social networking and just digital technology. Now, I honestly found the first couple hours not too bad but then everything I wanted to do was digital, and everything that I have done involved my phone. I couldn't even watch TV because it was digital, I slowly realized I was going to go crazy and this was going to be harder than I thought. Time never felt so slow passing by.
Honestly, I had to just sleep, and do reading like scriptures and what have you. It sucked because I know most people went camping and so it made it convenient to stay off technology, I am not an outdoors person at all. But I did it on a weekend I really didn't have much to do, which was a good and bad thing. So the best way I could distract myself is by playing sports, swim, work and sleep. The evenings was best because I worked til like 11 and I can't even check my phone so it made it easier to then I would just go home and sleep for the next day.
That next morning, was the struggle, because I would wake up and just sit in bed on my phone and slowly wake up. So I just went back to sleep a couple times, and luckily had church so 3 hours passed by. Then I had another Sunday nap so that took another 2 hours. Then, had some down time to spend with friends and just talk about things I haven't been able to talk about in a while, like mission memories, and just scriptures. Ended the night with ward prayer and just hung out the rest of the night and rested.
I honestly going crazy because I never knew whenever I have down time how much I would just go to straight to my phone to keep me distracted. Music is something that I am constantly listening to and another filler for time. So everything that is around me is digital, and I am still learning to disconnect to connect with everyone. I am constantly always on my phone because honestly if things don't catch my attention then I do not pay attention. I noticed that we are constantly a generation that needs to be doing something to feel like we are productive. This assignment made me realize how much I am dependent on my phone. I was honestly going to go crazy but then I had to think to myself, what did I do when I didn't have technology that we have now. Well for one I was younger and so me and my brothers were all living at home and two because I had then we always played sports and did stupid stuff when we had time. I would honestly miss being disconnected, and it is something that I want to work on after this assignment.

Solving the World's Problems by Playing Video Games
When you think of video games, the first thing that comes to my mind is all the countless hours I imagine someone playing. I think of the culture that comes with it, like the amounts of caffeine that is consumed, or snacks eaten or even the clothes that are worn and how that individual probably hasn't daylight in like a week. But, what if there was a possibility that playing video games can help solve the biggest world problems such as hunger, clean water or even incurable diseases . Well, that is what Jane McGonigal believes, and she explains it in her video, Gaming can make a better world. And it is amazing what is unfolding with gaming, because there is more than what meets the eye. I mean personally I play sports games, and the problem solving that comes from that because you are trying to outsmart your opponent and so many different strategies and everything come to mind. That is what is being shared, find ways we can use the problem solving in games such as World Of Warcraft and use it in real life situations. According to The Guardian there are games that you can play to help do certain things. The website is zooniverse in which has all these problem solving games. Now, it is also said that our minds recognize patterns and are built to make solutions when come across problems. So imagine, who would have thought gaming, formatted of course, can help find the solution to the biggest problems we suffer in the world. It is definitely a group effort not just an individual. So with that it would help shape the solution for many things that come across.
The Zing of Authencity
When listening to the podcast between Alex Goldman and Brooke Gladstone, I couldn't help but think to myself all the times I was on twitter, or any social network for that matter and see information that pertained to something that was in close proximity of me. It seems that the average citizen sometimes breaks news before the actual news networks, that would be considered a part of citizen journalism. Citizen journalism would be defined as the collection, dissemination, and analysis of news and information by the general public, especially by means of the internet. Now, it is very true that it seems that citizen's journalism is on the uprising with such social networks. Can we consider twitter an official replacement to the actual news network? The answer would be no, at least to an article by Pew Research Center. Now more people are on twitter but in 2012 it was noted that less than 10% actually used the news recommendations on twitter, but the there is about a third that go directly to the news organization website or search news often or even have an app. Now, how their news is received is also different, because as of 2012 70% of people said they got their links about news from Facebook and a little over a third said they got it from twitter. But it is still growing, there is forever a positive to having twitter and the zing is possess.
Now it probably won't happen overnight when you are a twitter sensation but these are The Top 10 reason why citizen journalist should use twitter. Because you will find more about the things you are interested in. The simplicity of it all. I mean twitter has something for everyone, me personally I am a huge sports fanatic. And because of that I literally follow almost every sports account that is linked with ESPN. Now I also have a bleacher report app, that kind of has the same thing but I have noticed that sometimes twitter will have news before Bleacher Report and then Bleacher Report would have breaking news before ESPN. But, with this like Goldman said, its a thrill breaking news first, just being the first one to know something. Its a milestone, almost like bragging rights that you broke the news first.
There are negatives as well as positives about citizen journalism, especially with twitter, besides all the drama it is just having the credibility of proving the story right. That is really the biggest question now when "breaking news" seems to leak on twitter, how liable is the source that tweeted what just happened. I mean just like it was discussed on the podcast, a good amount of times it is just bits and pieces of the story. Or you could have the whole story from everything and come to find out it was wrong, like how they explained with the suspect of the Boston Bombing. Definitely very misleading and actually sets back, at least I believe, from what is actually going on.
Twitter will never die, unless some other amazing social work came to make it obsolete, but it has made citizen journalism rise but also credibility go down to a certain extent. The zing is the thrill people go through to try and get everything and be the first to break news.
